Warung Prancis of Unviversitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) conducted Fête De La Culture, a cultural festival under the theme ‘French-Indonesian Literature Appreciation’ at hall of Warung Prancis, Building D, Floor 2, UMY on Tuesday (2/5). The cultural festival was organized to commemorate the Indonesia National Education Day.

“This event is held since Warung Prancis focuses on educational and cultural fields. In this festival, we have musicalization of poetry and fashion show,” told Director of Warung Prancis Puthut Ardianto, M.Pd.

The musicalization of poetry in French was performed by participants of Warung Prancis of UMY, while the The musicalization of poetry in Indonesian presented by Forum Mahasiswa Pencinta Pena of UMY. Besides, the fashion show presented Puthut’s design for women using dye tie. He was self-taught through media in employing the technique. He also made shirts from batik, striated, and plain patchwork.

Afterwards, there was a talk show on French culture and education by a person in charge of Warung Prancis across Indonesia Mazayanissa Suyuthi and Coordinator of University Cooperation from the Embassy of France. After talking about French culture, the speakers explained how to study in France.

Additionally, Warung Prancis of UMY is the best Warung Prancis in Indonesia. The appraisal was due to innovative programs provided by Warung Prancis of UMY. “We have a weekly programs. On Monday, we have club français, a talk with French native speakers. On Tuesday, there is ecoutéz, listening to French song. On Wednesday, there is French movie screening. On Thursday, we have Défi du Jeu, games to learn French. On Friday, we study French. On Saturday, we have WePedia (Warung Prancis Encyclopedia), discussing facts of France posted on social media of Warung Prancis of UMY. We also have monthly and annual programs such as this festival,” mentioned Puthut.
